Do I Need small base circle cam?

im lookin for sumthing in the range of 256/260 .627/.622 solid/roller on a 110 lsa... SOLID ROLLER... the cam i have now is a 530/550 234/242 on a 112 lsa.. and my rods are really close to the lobes.. im afraid that if i go to a higher lift and stuff my cam will smack my rods what do u guys think i should do??

The lobes won't get any bigger, they can't be bigger than the journals otherwise you wouldn't be able to get it into the engine.

I think you'll be fine.
You might want to get slightly longer pushrods though, but when you get the cam you can check it.

The way they increase lift is by taking material off of the low side of the lobe not increasing the high side.

Messing around as a kid we used to file down gocart cams. It would be a dog off of the line but that thing would scream up top.

Re: Do I Need small base circle cam?

what they said.. but dont feel bad cause you have to start somewhere.. took me a bit to figure that part out..

at most, you might need a bit longer pushrods.. since the lifter will sit lower..
