Switching Cams...

I've done a search, and couldn't find this, so my apologies if it's been asked...

But is it possible to remove and install cams without removing the engine from a Trans Am? Like..if I took out the radiator and the A/C condenser, would it be possible to maneuver the old cam out of the block and the new one in? Has anyone done it?

yep, you have to take most of the front apart(radiator, condenser, various braces). i don't remember if you have to pull the bumper cover though.

Man, that would suck if I need to pull the bumper cover. But it'll work better than trying to remove an engine without a cherry picker or an engine stand. But then again, I'm just planning for the future, so I'm in no rush, and who knows, maybe I'll somehow 'acquire' a picker and a stand by then

Re: Switching Cams...

Done it in a Camaro, just had to remove the AC and rad...and unbolt the braces, was an easy few hours....don't think the engine bays are that much different.
