Starter Problems...

I have gone trough 6 starters on my 92 Camaro. I have no idea why...I have no mods to the engine, no extra loads on the electrical system except 2 gauge lights to the cig lighter. But I rarely use them. I do have an aftremarket radio, but thats it. And 4 of the starters were before the upgrades. Any ideas on the situation???? Please help.

What is happening to all these starters? Are they all failing in the same manner? Are you putting the same thing back on with warranty returns?

Re: Starter Problems...

Yes, every starter ends up with a "dead spot" they called it. Not 100% what that means. And I usualy replace with a remanufactured. But this last time the main lead to the starter looked as if it were fused to the selonoid post. When I took it off it crumbled to peices. It always happens about a year and a half after I replace it. I know its getting close when I try to start it and I will get a click and have to keep turning the key until it finally kicks over.
