Big Bang

My son's 89 Firebird - had one loud backfire and now it has no spark - any idea what happened?

Timing chain/gear? See if the rotor is spinning when cranked.

Don't know if you checked for spark voltage at the plug or coming out of the coil. Check for keyswitch voltage at the coil, if present either it or the module is probably bad.
