not getting enough fuel....hope its not the pump

I seriously need some help. Just bought a '90 camaro. had been sitting for years and didnt think to drain the fuel. it ran fine for a day or so, then started spitting and idling up and down, and just did not want to run. changed the filter, put in injector cleaner, checked injectors, checked plugs..everything fine. Hubby says the cone of fuel from inj. is not as strong as it should be. we are trying NOT to have to change the fuel pump because we all know what a pain that is. Does anyone have any other suggestions before we have to break this thing down? Thanks to all who can respond.

check fuel pressure at the rail with a guage.
they are not that expensive at the parts stores.
pull all the sensor plugs off then run it see if its ok.

I did the same thing. Took exhaust off, lowered my axle, and that made the job much easier.

Re: not getting enough fuel....hope its not the pump

well ok.......we cheated. hubby has a crazy cousin that came over and cut a hole in the trunk, luckily it was directly above the tank hole where the pump comes out. put the new pump in, covered the hole back up, and voila'.....cranked right up and idled perfectly. I know some of you may cringe when you read what we did, but hey....it worked and now I get to drive my car, and you cant even tell where they cut. looks good, drives good, I'm happy. lol thanks to all who responded and for all your help.
