roller rockers

Well ive been looking for a nice bolt onand ive decided to go with the jegs full roller rockers for 87-95 center bolt heads. My question is cani just bolt them in to replace the stamped steel ones or will i need new springs. i have springs but i heard that my 981 springs will need special retianers or something to run them so if possible i just rather not change springs.

Re: roller rockers

Maybe put some car info in your sidebar so we can help you more.

But either way, you can use those rockers without any other changes, don't expect to gain any power though, they're not a great bang/$ modification.

Who told you that you need special retainers to run 981 springs?!? If you have those springs collecting dust in your garage, i'd put 'em on.

Re: roller rockers

well i was going to sell them but everyone was like you need special retainers for those so nobody wanted them. My car is a 350 2 bolt main roller block (l98) stock heads and cam with a high rise holley intake holley vs 650 carb, full slp exhaust (the 1 3/4 headers), 3.27 gears, s-10 stall, and a superior shift kit.

Re: roller rockers

Ok, so no TPI, but a carb setup?
roller rockers aren't a good next mod. I'd drop the money into a camshaft, and put those springs on. As far as I know, comp 981's are 1.25" OD springs, which fit into your stock pockets, and would work just fine with stock retainers. Even if they didn't, new retainers and locks are only like $50.
