Mr gasket chrome water neck info wanted

Which water neck have you guys used? I got rid of both ports on my water neck so there is no need for that one. I would like to grab a chrome one but they only say -1965 or to 1975. I am assuming because of the emissions eqipment. My car is a carbed 305.

Yea i've got one.

One is straight, one is 45* angled.

Depending on how you route your upper rad hose, you could use either. I have the factory style preformed water hose, so I need to use the 45* ANGLED one. The straight one is for older trucks or something.

Use the rubber o-ring they give you, but just in case, maybe RTV the crap out of it. I like to use SS bolts to hold it down too, and use sealant on those bolts.

Also, use a ratchet (not just a screwdriver) to tighten the hose clamp. Tighten it until it almost breaks. Mine keeps slipping off, since the chrome is much more slippery than the stock rusted piece eh?

I used a water neck gasked with the oring tho. With just the o ring it kept leaking. Never had a problem with the water hose slipping off tho.

It's best to check the sealing surface (neck to intake) for trueness before installing. The best way is to true up to ensure a good seal is to place the sealing surface on a belt sander to buff off the irregularities.

Also, scuff the part of the neck where the hose attaches with scotch brite or sandpaper to roughen up the surface a little, in order to give the rubber hose something to grab ahold too.

That will usually guarantee a leak.
