im out of ideas ... help me for pete's sake
my prob is that my starter intermittently cranks slow and fast and starts to smoke very quickly, i cant get it to start i have a new batt, new starter, new batt cables, new starter cables ( fusible links and connections ) new ground wire ( firewall to motor ) i have fuel and spark, i shimed my strarter, i have proper firing order 18436572, i have power everywhere and signal everywhere i just cant figure out why my starter just cranks fast then slow then fast then slow, when i cranks fast everything seems fine just doesnt cranl long enough to start the car but when it cranks slow all the lights dim and flicker, ive changed everything going to the starter and the starter itself, i dont have some high compression motor its a stock 305 h.o., enough voltage and amperage should be going to the starter ... so what the !@#$% is my prob

had same problem one new starter problem gone. mine only acted up on hot starts

Try another starter.......and make it a high torque model for good measure.
