I'm finally getting around to working on the car again and would love some help...it's an 87 5.7 TPI

The engine will turn but not fire. I am assuming it's the fuel pump but here's the details...

I don't hear the fuel pump engage initially, but if I manually engage the fuel pump via tha ALDL I can hear it running. Once in a great while it'll start up no problems at all, but most of the time it just doesn't want to start. I'm assuming it's a fuel issue somewhere cause it has spark and the engine turns. I gotta find my fuel pressure gauge to check pressue but was wondering what else I might want to look at in the mean time. Once it starts it runs beautifully so any ideas would be great!
