bogging out
i find my car seems to idle extremely low as of late, and i took it to numerous mechanics who say its nothing, but its sitting right on 500 rpm and if im backing up or coming to a stop, it ducks below the 500 and u can feel the car bogging out and near stall. any ideas on what this could be, they checked quite a few things out and they all say its nothing to worry about.

What kind of motor do you have? TPI? Carb?

Dont wanna sound crazy but how old is your catatyic converter? If your exaust is cloged up it will have those symptoms.

my 1989 305 tpi has the same problems and i have no cat. i hooked a gauge up to the o2 sensor and it was saying i was running lean.
