what should be my fuel pressure?

i installed a crane adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

i got 45 psi with ignitin on

and only 40 psi at idle

i can adjust the screw but i dont wana go too far.

so what is a safe fuel pressure but still getting some good use out of the adjustable regulator?

Re: what should be my fuel pressure?

It depends on your engine. If you're stock, anywhere from 42-45 is good. Any higher and you could be running too rich.

Re: what should be my fuel pressure?

pretty much a stock 305 v8 tpi fuel injected engine, 1986 trans am

new:
water pump
battery
radiator
egr/solenoid
iac
throttle body
throttle body coolent bypass kit
new ford 19lb injectors
new fuel pressure diaphram
crane fuel pressure regulator
new 02 sensor
k@n filter cold induction kit
new exhuast stock pipes from y-pipe to tips including new cat
new valve cover gaskets

etc....

most doesnt matter but with the new air filter kit and ford injectors

do you still think 42-45?

and is it normal for it to be less at idle then with just ignition on?

Re: what should be my fuel pressure?

I'm not sure if Ford injectors require a different pressure but usually i would shoot for 42-43.
Yes it's normal for the pressure to be lower at idle.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: what should be my fuel pressure?

I'd be looking for numbers like 36-37 at idle, and 43-45 at idle with the vacuum line disconnected.
