backside of the camaro
backside of the camaro
i destoried my rear differential (shattered the housing inside) in my 86 iroc z. i don't have the money to rebuild it so i just went to a junk yard and after searching forever i found a differential that was disk brakes and positive traction. it came off a 83 firebird so i'm pretty sure it'll bolt up. but to double check... do any of you know for sure if this is gonna work? respond quickly please!

From the little bit of info you've provided, I'd guess that it would likely work, the two things that come immediately to mind are:
1) You'll want to drive carefully for the first several miles until you can determine that the F/R proportioning on the brakes is roughly the same (or at least within a fairly safe range); and
2) The rear gears may be different, so your speedo may be off.
Good luck!

The '83 has SAE brake lines, and '86 has metric. Otherwise, it will bolt up.
Does your '86 have disk in the rear?
