383 1500rpm idle????
Ok I just finished my car's motor. But for some strange reason its idling at 1500rpms or higher. I just fixed the vaccum leak on the intake manifold but it didn't help it any. I can't start the car with the tps sensor in, and when I leave it out and start the car it'll fire right over but as soon as I plug it in it(once its running) revs up the motor and then shuts down. Is the tps sensor causing the motor to rev so high when it's idling? I don't know of anything else that could be causing it to do this besides a vaccum leak but I don't have one.(I double checked everything) Please someone shead some light on this subject cause I have no more Ideas.

So with the TPS sensor out, it idles high, but when you plug it in, it idles higher, then shuts it off? But with TPS out, it'll run ok, (idling high) but it won't shut itself down after a few minutes?
How about some engine specs? Is this a TPI 383? What year injection setup is this?
What's your timing at when you fire it up? I'd check it with the TPS sensor out, make sure it's ball park.

Yeah thats what it does.
The motor used to be a tpi but has been converted to a holley stealth ram intake. The car is a 91 gta. I'm using the stock injectors that came on the car along with a new stock fuel pump(I have a better one but I'm trying to get the car runnning alittle better first). I have trickflow 23 degree alum. heads with 1.5rr, roller lifters, and a double roller timing chain, all gaskets are felpro gaskets, and I have all forged interals except the crank. The stock TB is also still being used as well and I've only got the non-adjustable fuel pressure reg. from holley.

What voltage do you have on that TPS with the engine off and the key in the ON position? Should be around .54 volts on the middle wire... Is your IAC connected and in known working order?
