Help I blew the motor, was able to get a replacement brand new long block lo3 from chevy for $2500.oo. should i do a performer manifold 3704 , headers? slp says not to do headers, unless i open the motor and go bigger horsepower. I'm on a budget so a 350 or bigger is out of the question. car has a 5spd and slp exhaust random technologies cat. Redid the suspension last year.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

You already have the replacement 305? A 350 long block would have been the same price.

 

Same price yes, but what about the extras needed for the 350. computer, carb, electrical. this car is my daily driver, every one says get a 350, but what else is involved, water pump ,a/c, powersteering sensors.
Remember i'm on a budget.
With the LO3 it's a direct bolt in. what about the manifold and or headers for the LO3, any help for me there.

 

Almost everything from your LO3 would have moved over to a 350. There wouldn't have been much in the way of "extras".

 

define, almost everything else. I'm the original owner , bought new. And one of the reasons i am choosing to stay with the LO3 is for resale value on the car since i dont plan on selling it any time in the near future. It is a heritage package car, with red leather interior and a 5 speed. according to 92 production numbers the heritage package cars are only bout 11 and 1/2 percent of the total camaros produced in 1992. probably less because of the 5 speed.
Am I out of my mind and making any kind of sense? Time is a factor in getting the car back on the road. And i can't afford to waste time trying to get components to work together.
I'm not looking to make sick horsepower or race the car. Just want a great daily driver. I redid the suspension about two years ago, and the car out handles most porsches, and bmws on the twisties. so i'm very happy there.
