Need engine help

Ok, I have a 1984 Camaro, it came stock a 2.8L. but it blew bad (Threw a rod-took chunks out of the cylinder, crank and a V slice out of the block at the oil pan). Ive looked for another engine but I figured if I am going to spend over a grand or rebuild, might as well as get a better one. So what I am asking is, what years and engines that will fit. Only thing is my wife does demand that I stay with a 6, and she does know engines enough not to be able to fool her with an 8. So basically, what sizes and years that will fit in an '84 camaro. Please help. Thanks

Re: Need engine help

You should have posted in the V6 section .

Just about any RWD V6 thats' a 60* short block is a bolt-in. Since your block is trashed, I would suggest finding a 3.4 from a 4th generation f-body.

S10 motor will also work. Just be careful there are a few years that had an externally balanced flywheel/flexplate (82-87) so they will need to match. The 85 and earlier had smaller crank journals.

Check out 60DegreeV6.com also, lots of good info.

BTW: Welcome to TGO .
