Vac Leak or Tuning Issue ?
I finally got my new 383 into the car today but it isn't running very well. When you fire it up it doesn't want to idle worth it's life. You have to tip into the throttle slightly to keep is running otherwise it hunts around the RPM's a little and dies. Here's the quick specs. 383 9.55 compression, Super Ram, AFR 195's out of the box, Comp Cam p/n 08-468-08 242/248 .549/.544 113 lsa all at .050
I took the car out for a long cruise at highway speed to help break in the rings but when you let out of the throttle it stumbles a lot and when you stop at idle it runs really rough and eventually dies out.
I threw a vac gauge on it and it's pulling about 10-12in of vac. Does that seem too low for that cam? It's definitely affecting my brakes some. I'm figuring I have 1 of 4 problems here. The cam is too large and that's just how it's going to run (unlikely), leak at the Super Ram (went around with carb spray and didn't find anything obvious), valve too tight (engine shop adjusted them prior to install), or it's all in the tuning of the chip (from PCMForLess).
I'm open to ideas and suggestions.

Re: Vac Leak or Tuning Issue ?
I'm dealing with the same issue. According the the prom board, in my case, you have too much cam unless you get into the idle values in the chip. I'd help more but i'm still working on this issue myself.
So far i've gotten the cold idle smooth but once the car tries to hit closed loop it starts hunting. At least it doesn't die anymore.

Re: Vac Leak or Tuning Issue ?
You know after thinking about it last night I'm starting to think maybe my MAF ate it. It was sitting somewhere in the garage where it may have gotten wet. Any thoughts on this one?
I'm gonna try picking one up at the local parts store tonight and throwing it in there to see what happens. I can return it if it doesn't.
I've ruled out a vac leak at this point after some testing.

Re: Vac Leak or Tuning Issue ?
Only reason I suspected the MAF was because I know it got wet sitting out in the tent garage the car was in. I figured that wasn't it though since I was getting no SES light. I will be datalogging tomorrow night to see what's going on.
