Okay guys here is the scoop. One of my birds decided that today was the day to tell me she IS going to take a **** on me soon (my GTA
) . Driving at about 50 mph and realise its stuck in 2nd gear
. I play with the gas and brake and it wont shift...then I look at the temp gauge...235 degrees. I realize that means my tranny is what, 255 degrees. So that means after 145,000 miles of reliable life my 700R4 is doing what all 700R4s do when they get really hot and old...die. Im looking into the re-build kit now, I have a trusted guru in the local Firebird club who will install it for $250 if I bring it to him. But I am looking at doing a few upgrades to the car while it is down...first.
I HATE that air intake that is on there, I HATE IT! But no one makes a Cold Air Intake for the 91s anymore...dont know why. But they dont. However on a stroke of luck I am getting a Ram Air 2 hood out of my appartment complex for having a floresent light bulb fall on my hood and dent it on a seam (irreperable). But that is going to take time and I was wondering if I could use the ram air kit from hawks? Anybody know if I can get away with it?
Second I have a set of 2210 headers, smog delete, LT-1 starter and the dual cat setup already. But I need to know if the muflex y-pipe will bolt up to the stock cats. It doesnt look like it does from the picture. Or am I just stuck fabbing it myself?
Lastly is the Derale tranny pan from summit PN DER-14104. Anyone used it? It looks like a good deal for $75, its just im scared of burning a new tranny ya know. Does it work or am I just blowing money on snake oil with this one?
