Starting Problem, making weird noise
I'm having problems getting my car started. Earlier today when I went to leave my car wouldn't start. It was making some weird clicking noise the first two times I tried to start it. On the third try it started right up. Now tonight when I went to pull it in it starting make that clicking noise. This time it didnt start and still hasn't. Any ideas what this could be? I took some footage of it so you can hear the sound. Its basically a sound clip, no video and theres no visual sparking or arching that I can see. What could this be?
Oh and this is the first time its ever done this.

UPDATE: 6/29/07
I tried to start it again today after it sat the whole night, with no luck. I noticed that my voltage was really low, when the key was turned to the on position, not the starting position. So I had my brother give me a jump. The first try it didn't start, but you could tell it wanted to. So I let it charge for a bit more, and on the second try it started up.
Now, is my problem voltage? Could this have been the reason it was making that sound? I'm thinking my battery cant hold a charge anymore, or my alternator isn't charging my battery?

It's time to let that battery sit on a battery charger overnight and see if it'll hold that charge. Once you start the car up it's easy to see if the alternator is putting out the right voltage.

I went and got the battery tested and its no good. So I bought a new one and problem solved.
Re: Starting Problem, making weird noise
Just a quick note...Is the new battery tied down? In the future, if you suspect you hav e a bad battery, turn on the lights the radio, heater or blower motor and hazards. Put your voltage meter across the battery terminals. You should still have approx. 12 volts. If it is less, significantly less say 8, 5, 6 volts then you have a bad cell in the battery. And make sure it is tied down. Bouncing and jolting a battery will cause it to fail.
