timing cover gasket

Is it possible to unbolt the oil pan with the motor IN the car or slightly raised? I need to insert the lower timing cover gasket and to do so, I need to remove the oil pan. Anyone ever done this?

Re: timing cover gasket

Yeah just raise the engine take out all the front sump screws and undo the rear ones half way and it will drop far enough to insert the new seal.

If you don't have a 1/4" socket with uini joint (with spring) get one it coz makes the job alot more easy.

Re: timing cover gasket

no you dont need to lower the pan to remove the timing cover

jut take out the front pan bolts and the timign cover will come off

after you get it off snip the corner ends of the metal lip that the lower seal sits in so it will go back on easier

RTV the corners real good

easy as cake

this is how to do them

no need to drop the pan and go through all that PITA

getting the cover off the two locating pins is the hardest part
