HELP!!! valve cover bolt snapped in head
changing the valve cover gaskets:
i was tightening the lower rear drivers side valve cover bolt to spec (from chilton book- 8 ft lbs.) and the f-ing head snapped right off the bolt and the rest of the threads are still in the cyl. head and i cant get it out.
what do i do? take it to a shop or try and fix it myself and maybe screw up even more?
p.s. i have no idea how to use a tap and dye.

Re: HELP!!! valve cover bolt snapped in head
so you cant get at the rest of the bolt in the head?
you could try gettin a piece of metal and JB welding it the broken bolt and twisting it back out...but i dont think it will hold that much torque. you could try that
else you'll have to try and drill it out. dremel tool with a small drill bit or something and with a small hole cut into it, or possibly a small flat head screw driver slit cut into the top, you could back the bolt out.
else take it to a shop that does head work and they will get it out and re thread the hole
