Motor Mounts?

Question...I am going to be doing an engine swap with a buddy in a couple weeks. The one thing which I am not 100% certain on is what I should do with the stock motor mounts?

I've never really changed motor mounts before....anyone have any suggestions as to what I shoudl use (poly, stock replacements??) and any "guidance/Instructions" on replacement when the Engine is out.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Re: Motor Mounts?

It's a schwack easier with the engine out, smart move there. If you're planning on doing the front springs anytime soon, do 'em now, it makes it even easier that way.
I used stock style ones, $12 per. I would recommend poly though (ES, whoever), they'd keep the engine a little more still. Especially if it's a higher output engine. Usually with poly you just get the insert, so you have to drill out the rivets and use your stock clamshells. Stock replacement ones come with new clamshells.

Use grease on the nut and washer to hold them both in the socket, so you can feed it back up into the k-member to line up with the bolt. You'll know what I mean soon enough.

Re: Motor Mounts?

That would work I guess. 6 of one half a dozen of the other. I think that might be a tad bit harder, trying to line it up with the bolt hole and force it through. Hmm, your call.

Re: Motor Mounts?

Use poly. Lasts much longer than the stock rubbers. By the time the poly starts to go bad, the car will most likely not exist.
