84 T.A DYNO run with weird outcome.
Hey everyone, I had my 84 Trans-Am on the DYNO yesterday and i got some interesting numbers.
Basicly stock (as far as I know) L69 W/NON-CC Q-jet, NON-CC HEI dist, open element air filter (14x3") and doubble roller timing chain and thats it. This is the first time i have had the car on a DYNO and i was not expecting mutch out of a 23 y/o 112,400mile 5L engine that was rated 190HP from the flywheel but it made 110.8RWKW (148.6RWHP) and 315nm of Torque.
How do I get that kind of torque with a HP rating so low?
Here are the DYNO sheets:
kW:

Torque:

He said the car had a very strong torque band for a 5L and that my car is running so clean from idle to WOT it would pass an emissions test but the only eco gear I got is a 1 y/o 2.5" High flow cat.

???
Looks very normal to me....
That's 148 peak HP and 212 peak ft-lbs at the wheels; out of a motor that was "rated" at about 190 HP and 240 ft-lbs at the flywheel. In short, it's almost exactly what should be there, minus a little for wear & tear and age.
The graph would have been a WHOLE LOT more useful if he had shown engine RPM instead of road speed.
I don't know why dyno operators do that....
What seems odd about it?

yeah it would have been better if it showed RPM but oh well, im new to this stuff i didnt realise the factory rated them at ft-lbs and the DYNO at nM (stupid me didn't know the difference
).
