What oil are you using? Multi-Viscosity I hope! Put in some 10-40 so that the oil is a little thicker when its hotter. Actually, 20-25 is okay at idle, hopefully it shoots up into the 60-70s when your over 4000 RPMs though.

Re: Oil pressure problems!!

yes it does however some one told me that oil pressure that low even at idle can do damage. The oil inst multi-viscosity but i will change over to that with a 10-40.

Re: Oil pressure problems!!

You don't have a problem. 10 PSI per 1000 RPM is more than enough pressure.

I know at chrysler 2.7 V6 spec is 10 psi at idle, which is scary low. Its common on those engines to have a low pressure oil light flicker come on when the engine is worn because it drops under 5 psi at idle...bad mitsubishi oil system design...those engines blow in the 60k ALL over the place. Its a pretty HiPo engine, textbook race design, has a ton of HP per liter.

You don't need 10W-40 oil. 10W-30 is fine.

One rule of thumb for these cars is before you take any action with regard to indicated oil pressure, attach a mechanical gage and see what's really happening. The sending units are notorious for going bad, and the dash gage system is more of an indication than a measurement.
