Engine Done?

So my car started making popping sounds like it was misfiring, during which time when i give it gas it has no power just crazy popping(misfiring). Today I pulled the plugs, they were covered in oil, one was so bad that there was no way there could have been spark. I pulled the plugs not that long ago(4 months ago, less than 2k) they were fine, now they are ****ed. Would this be possibly cause by bad piston rings, if so what are my options(how bad can it be?) . I was planing on doing some upgrading like aluminum heads, but with that and a rebuild it might just be cheaper to find a built motor. So what do u think. Thanks.

Re: Piston rings?

Not likely to be the rings.

Sounds more like a valve train problem (rolled cam lobe, rocker nut backed off, etc.) or a head gasket blown between 2 cyls.

Sofakingdom, im not going to fight with you over this, but..... Probably not.

I'm more with the idea of bad guide, the head gasket is a veritable idea, are they AC Delco plugs or otherwise? I see they are. oopps

maybe bad rings but i doubt that too

Anyways how many bad plugs do you have, Motormite sells non foulers that may help you, be careful as they create a much hotter spot in the motor, making things alot easier to burn a piston

Re: Piston rings?

those plugs are 4 months old? maybe 4 years no way you get that much rust but those deposits what kind of a texture are they almost rock hard or soft and oily?
