electric fans on my car???

electric fans on my car???

should my 87 iroc have 2 electric fans or one? i was looking at it today and noticed it had two, also is the radiator aluminum? how about the driveshaft?

It has two fans if you have A/C, one if you don't. The radiator is aluminum. The driveshaft is aluminum if you have the JG1 option, steel if you don't.

yes, it has a/c how can i tell if it has the jg1 option without crawling under the car and sticking a magnet to it? does anyone know what my gear ratio is? its an auto, tpi 305, 9 bolt with discs, and what are the baffles ppl are talking about on the gas tank? could mine have it?

You could find the RPO list for the car and see if JG1 appears on it, or just look underneath the car at the shaft. If it has rust on it, it's not aluminum.

The baffled gas tank thing is just an urban legend, don't worry about it.

IIRC, the JG1 shaft didn't make an appearance until 1988.

The RPOs are on the underside of the console lid.

is there a way or any reason to manually hookup the other electric fan? I removed the ac cause it didnt work anymore and didnt want to convert to 134a? I figured the car might run a lil cooler?
