My 92 RS is bogging down
My 92 RS is bogging down
I have a 92 Rs,TBI,305. It idles fine, but when I go to give it gas it just bogs down and dies. The minute I take my foot off the throttle it idles great again. I took off the top end of the engine and reseated it with gaskets and the torque specs, thinking it was a vaccum leak. No go. It's timed right. I'm starting to think that I just need to pull the motor and start from scratch. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

it's too much info to type here but if you have a chilton's/haynes or factory manul under troubleshooting and it will guide you towards some of the diagnostics you can run to narrow in on it - but let me assure you that this is more likely than not going to be rectified long before you hit the last resort of a complete tear down
Re: My 92 RS is bogging down
I am having the same problem. My tach is all the way to the right when I start the car and stays to that side. I have replaced and/or rebuild just about every component of the fuel injection system. I have been told it may have something to do with the ignition coil being bad. I really don't know but I am going to dive back into it tommorrow.

Your tach issue may just be the need to have the tach rebuilt or find a good used tach, pretty common that they go haywire

That sounds like a fuel problem.
What is your fuel pressure WHILE IT'S SCREWING UP? That is, NOT while it's sitting in the driveway idling, and behaving right; but rather, WHILE IT'S IN THE ACT of whatver it's doing?
Have you just simply tried changing the fuel filter?
