I broke two thermostat housings on my TPI. They were both aluminum. THe replacment one I bought from the store is an iron one. It worked great.

I am a bit scared running it because its not aluminum. I am not sure if I should be worried or not??

On one hand I like it because it worked great. I broke TWO aluminum (stock) housings but it was because I did not clean the surface well. Now its spanking clean with an iron housing.

Do you think this will pose a problem, or will it be alright.

(I am seriously thinking that it'll be alright, but i need that piece of mind).

Re: Please say yes

how did you break the other housings??

the iron should be fine.. dont see why it wouldnt or how you broke 2 housings.. just make sure you dont run straight water(like the .001% of people that do).. painting the outside would help with rust too.. dont forget, good prep=good paint..

Re: Please say yes

I torqued them down to about 22 and anything over that cracked the side. The problem was that I did not clear the little recess area where the thermostat goes. so Basically the thermostat was out a bit to high and it would put enough pressure on the aluminum housing to where it would snap. I got that cleaned up and now it bolted on perfectly.
