backfires=off timing?

my 355/holley 3310/t-5 combo started backfiring from the tail pipe after i changed the PV to a higher 9.5. when i'm accelerating it's fine. but when i slow down in gear i can hear the tail rumble and then start popping. it never does this on acceleration or starting or any other phase...only on deceleration. is this timing? i'm running about 20* total....

Re: backfires=off timing?

shorty headers, hooker muffler and exhaust system...i'm gonna check the distributor connections...i took out the stock module 'cause it was interfering with the accel 300 box...the car pulls like crazy and idles nicely...no surges or spurts....it just pops and bubbles whenever i decelerate......
