l69

i have a 1984 camaro with the l69.i just replaced my passengers side air injector now my check engine light is on also the car smokes really bad on start up then kinda dies down but never quits the higher you rev it the more it smokes also it seems like im losing tranny fluid but i cant find a leak. i know i need valve seals but could i have some vac lines off or something that would cause the loss of tranny fluid and smoke?? my oil pressure is around 30 at idle and then goes to 60 at higher rpm.also the car idles around 500rpm.

Patience, Grasshopper, good things come to those who wait. . .

It's hard to imagine a connection between replacing the passenger side A.I.R. (was this the tube manifold, or the check valve) and a smoking engine. SES light could be from something that was knocked off during the process.

Retrieve the trouble code(s) and at least start from there. I can't think of any trouble code that would include smoke, though.

Re: l69

used to have a LU-5 that did this, it's problem was sludge buildup in the heads and it blocked the oil from returning to the pan .... check the heads for sludge

Re: l69

Use a paperclip to pull the codes, it's pretty high tech, matches the '80s car well.
Do a search for more info on the paperclip trick.
