383 Short Block
I'm new to the whole performance thing. I just bought my first Camaro about three months ago. It is an '84 Z28 with an L69 in it. I want to swap the 305 out with a 383 stroker, but I can't find a decently priced short block to start with. Can anybody tell me where I can get one for under 3 grand? Also, is the Edelbrock Power Package for a 383 worth the 2 grand? It's the one with the 200 cfm E-Tec heads.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Have you talked to machine shops in your area? Most have 350 blocks laying around and would build up a 383 for you for a lot less than $3000.
An eBay search for "383 shortblock" came up with a couple for around $1700 (plus shipping).
The Edelbrock heads are okay, but their cams are paperweights.
