oil pressure

1984 camaro with the 5.0 HO. i get a big cloud of smoke when i start the car and the it kind dies down a bit after a few seconds it has been doing this for a while. and now my oil pressure has dropped it used to be almost 60 at idle while warming up now it sits around 30 and a couple times when i reved it up it dropped just a hair under 30 for some reason anyone have a clue as to what may be wrong?

Re: oil pressure

The first step seems to be to check the sender, and make sure it isnt bad. Try swapping to a new one. If there is still a problem, hook up a mechanical guage to see your actual pressure.

Re: oil pressure

Your cloud is most likely valve seals. Could also be valve guides but always start with the cheap stuff.
