oiling mods - suggestions?

I'm thinking about placing a summit order here for some oiling upgrades. I've got the oil pump covered on my last rebuild, but my oil pan won't stop leaking (at the front seal, and maybe TC cover crank seal as well, but anyway...)

I was thinking about a few upgrades, after reading a car craft article about "free" hp from oiling modifications.

I've got a windage tray, a basic oil pan, and a crank scraper here. Is there anything distinctly wrong with what i've got here? I'm guessing the studs are needed to replace the main cap bolts, so that I have a place to mount the windage tray?

MIL-32100
Windage Tray, Steel, Gold Iridited, Louvered, Rear Sump, Chevy, Small Block, Each

MIL-32640
Crankshaft Scraper, Steel, Gold Iridited, Chevy, Small Block, Each

MIL-81148
Windage Tray Stud, Steel, Black Oxide, Chevy, Small Block, Each

SUM-G3500P

Any thoughts or suggestions on this would be appreciated.

For an oil pump, high volume, is more important than high pressure.

Well, like I said i've already got an oil pump, i've got that covered. I don't think I need more volume/pressure, i'm just looking at the mods to free up HP.

You're talking about spending a lot of money for not much gain on a street engine.

Re: oiling mods - suggestions?

The oil pan i'll get either way, i'm pretty sure mine is warped beyond fixing. And it's ugly, dented, etc.

Well the scraper is $12, and the windage tray is $25 or so. $35 with the studs. Not a huge investment. Under $100 when the smoke clears.

You don't think it's worthwhile though eh? I understood i'd be looking at close to 20HP ? Or is that at an unrealistically high RPM like 7000?

Probably closer to 2 HP at 7000 RPM, and you'd have to deal with the hassle of converting to main studs instead of bolts.

Re: oiling mods - suggestions?

Really?!? That's it? I wasn't sure how scraping oil off the crank added HP, but people do it, so I figured i'd better look into it...
Well screw that, i'll look into other things.

Re: oiling mods - suggestions?

you could get a higher capacity oil pan, like a 6qt or 7qt. thats good for a few ponies.

look on ebay, theres tons of them for under 100$ with the pump pickup. you dont need to drop 200$ on some moroso one. Ive had a ebay zinc gold looking one for over a year and it fits great and no leaks.

my 2 cents
