egr question

egr question
HI i am just going through everything on my 89 GTA right now and I noticed at the back of the engine on the passenger side there is a steel tube that goes down by the firewall and ends up right by the exhaust(this goes back to the egr component i think),it looks like it has been cut and crimped over.Do i need this to be hooked up to something?If not can i remove this thing(egr?) from my car? if so what do i do with the two electrical connectors? sounds more like the AIR tubes.
there are tubes that should be coming from your manifolds or headers. if not, then someone removed the AIR system. i hear that pipe back there is a difficult part of the AIR system to remove, so some people just chop off as much as they can and keep it back there.
