ZR1? Anybody tried it?
Did some research on Corvettes, came up with this motor, anybody tried putting one in? How hard are they to come by?

From what I've seen, they are pretty rare to find, and go for big bucks if you do find one. It's a good size engine, so although i'm pretty sure it bolts to the factory motor mounts and tranny, the wiring might be a pain, and possibly getting accesories around it could be hard.

there has been one that i know off...ugly looking show car that did have a Zr1 LT5 motor in it. its been my dream idea but just dont a very good motor to work with...better off goin LSx since they are cheaper, more available and make more power

Re: ZR1? Anybody tried it?
It's the DOHC that really gives me goosebumps. It's the only GM V-8 that I've seen that has utilized it. Plus, the heads were designed by a guy from lotus...hot d**n, an Italian performance motor in American Steel? It's a match made in heaven...
The LSx series is cool...but this is kinda cooler...

Re: ZR1? Anybody tried it?
I believe caddy northstar is a DOHC motor as well. look up the L47 and you will find it. though I believe there are a few other engine codes out there also with the DOHC .
but orr89 is right good luck finding one and if you do hope you have gold toilet paper you wipe with cause if not chances are you couldn't afford it. not trying to be rude just honest. I would give at least 12-15k for one and that is JUST the motor. no work done to install it or modify anything that might need to be touched upon to make it fit. plus if any parts need replaced..... it's going to be like needle in haystack to find them, and then bending over without any lube paying for them.

Re: ZR1? Anybody tried it?
Y'know, it's almost worth going to law school, just so I can pay for something like that. I found a couple actually, but yeah 12k just for the motor and wiring harness. For another 8k, I could just get the whole corvette...

Yeah, I found that out later. My girlfriend hates 3rd gens but loved the Lotus Richard Gere drives in Pretty Woman, I've always thought they were italian...
They pop up on ebay every once in awhile. Somebody has a brand new crate LS-5 for the LOW LOW price of $15 grand. Anybody want to go half and half and split time with it? 6 months in your car, 6 months in mine?
