Slow Windows, Slow Headlights, Dim Lights

I have an 1985 Trans Am that has Really Slow electronics. The windows are real slow, The lights are dim, the blinkers blink real slow.
I replaced the battery and the alternator. The Alternator is a 94 amp and I still have the same problem.

I am thinking it could be a ground problem... Has anyone had this problem and if so where should I start?

Re: Slow Windows, Slow Headlights, Dim Lights

Does your gauge in the car show about 14 volts while running? If you have the blinker on, can you watch the needle move a good amount? If so, you definately have a bad connection somewhere. Happened to me, but it was my alternator. Try cleaning off the battery terminals if they are corroded, and take some sandpaper to the alternator power wire connection and see if that helps....also, 94 amp seems a little low for a car with power options.....I believe mine is a 120 amp. Good luck.

Re: Slow Windows, Slow Headlights, Dim Lights

Look for corrosion on connections at the junction block.
Mine was so bad, it prevented battery charging. After
chasing it (unsuccessfully) as an alternator problem, water,
baking soda, and a bristle brush was the solution.

Good luck,
kk

Re: Slow Windows, Slow Headlights, Dim Lights

the slow windows and headlights could be electrical, but i would say tired window motors and pop up light motors could be part of the cause, keep in mind its 23 years old.

just thought i would throw that in there.
