Car: 88 firebird formula
Engine: 305 tpi
Transmission: 700r4 with shift kit
Axle/Gears: 3.73 with eaton locking diff
backfire through the carb when warm
i checked out this trans am yesterday. its got 355 in it. it made about 390+ hp when he first got it. but now he cant get it figured out why it wont run right. it idles when its cold but when it warms up it just backfires and its gotta get shut off.i know its not timing or anything because this guy knows hes doing. does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

either the valves are out of adjustment or the springs just need to be replaced with the correct size. the other possibility is to much ignition advance.

agree with duckmanquacker.................but also i had a friend that "knew what he was doing" that couldnt get his car to do anything right and i went over and fixed it in 10 mins, he was 180 out on his timing LOL and he "knows it all" LOL
