Still Popping
I keep having popping sound through my exauhst on both sides. I locked out my timing to 32* running 108 fuel, just readjusted all my valves and it still makes the sound... i am begining to think it is they was it is supposed to sound lol... a few months back i broke a valve spring and replaced it. Do You think there is a way maybe that valve bent? But if it did wouldn't it pop from just that side?

Could sound like it's coming from both sides if you still have the intake exhaust cross-over passage open.
Solid or hydraulic lifters?
A compression check will verify whether you have a bent valve.

Re: Still Popping
Hydraulic lifters. And when i was rotating the motor by hand i could hear is hissing like air was leaking out but i assume that was normal being since there is still air in the cylinders coming out of the exauhst valves...
But on another note my exhaust system sucks... Hooker 1 5/8 primary shorty headers and a 2 1/4 exuahst pipes that leads to glasspacks ( old system when i had the 305 in there and never changed it ) do you thing that could cause it?

Re: Still Popping
Like stated above, do a compression test. That will let you know of any bent/burnt valves. Also, Check your float level. If its to high/low it will cause a popping threw the exhaust.

Re: Still Popping
I did a compression check on the driver side, the one were the valve spring broke. And they all were between 142-150 lbs. I checked they plugs after a wot pass and a little grey i rejetted up 4 jets and it still didn't help the pop...

Re: Still Popping
A lot of cars with red neck glass pack exhaust pop thru the exhaust when ya rev the motor up. Does the exhaust "pop" when ya drive the car at WOT under a load.?
(hoof it down the street) Do a compression test on all the cylinders.
Make sure the header gaskets are not leaking.
When ya rev the motor up, as it comes back to an idle from high rpm, raw fuel is drawn thru the motor into the exhaust headers. If the header gaskets are leaking even a little, Oxygen (air) is drawn in at the leakpoint in the exhaust at the same time. All you need for combustion is, air, fuel and enough heat and BANG!!! A leaky exhaust valve seat will do this too.

Re: Still Popping
ive been trouble shooting the same problem with my car in my thread... no i think mine is ign miss... hoping it is tho... https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...ing-sound.html more info on my deal here.. i gotta ask... too high of a float adjustment could cause it?? hmm i think my floats are a bit high but i need to double check... my car some times dies when im coming to a light. IE take foot off gas and give it brake car sputters and RPMS drop till it dies... sometime hard to get started again. wat are some symptoms of vapor lock?

Re: Still Popping
Any one think it could be a bent pushrod or worn cam lobes? When i adjusted the valves they all moved in the right sequence... so i don't know if it could be the cam... and just to verify when the exhaust valve just opens adjust the intake tighten till there is very little spinning motion then tighten half turn. After the intake opens and right when it closed shut adjust the exhaust? Could i have tighten all the valves down too tight?
I thought it might have been my hyfire 6a box but i by passed it and still the same things... I want to tear the intake off and check out all the pushrods and lifters but i hate to waste time.
And for my compression test i turned the motor over for about 3 secs to get the readings is this correct?
