hi, i have a 350 in my firebird and during the swap my 8" balancer off the motor got broken so i'm currently using a l98 balancer witch is visually smaller. My question is if this is bad and can cause under balancing or something or throw the crank shaft off? i plan to get one soon i'm just worried. also what is the standard balancer size for a standard small block chevy 350 4bolt?

 

Stock balancer size depends on application. Using a smaller one is ok.

 

there are 2 different balancers found on 305/350 a 6in and a 8 in.. both will work... however they each have there own timing tab location so trying to time the engine with a 6 in balancer and a timing tab for an 8 inch balancer will be very difficult... they both will do the job

 

Easier than timing it with a 6" tab and an 8" balancer.

 

thanks for the reply, i can rest easy now. i was kinda worried about it. i have a timing tab for a 8inch balancer and yes i couldn't read timing at all lol Will any 8inch balancer work, i'm probably just gonna buy a cheap one offline or something just so i can read timing off it. i think i seen one on jegs for like 63 bucks or something.

 

Any stock replacement 8" balance will work, as long as it's not for a 400.
