I just had a new transmission installed in my 305tbi camaro. the engine has developed a vibration after the install - but about a year ago i had this same vibration that went away after i went to an exhaust shop and the tightened my exhaust manifolds that seemed to fix the problem.

The vibration is back after a year and it happened at the same time as gettin my trans replaced, may be couincidence. I cant hear a exaust leak but I do hear 2 different ticking noises. one i believe is just the injectors ticking so no big deal there the other is i believe to be in the valve train. its not a slow tick either its a faster ticking at idol. when the rms get up to 1600-3000 range the vibration gets worse and the car seems to be slower, no real power.

im hoping its an exhaust leak from the manifold but i really dont know, im going to check that tonight, i did the timing last night and it was dead on. could a vaccum leak cause this or somthing with the transmission? anyone have some ideas to help me fix this t would be greatly appreaciated.
thanx.

Re: enigine vibration? after trans install
so i may have an update, when the cars in drive i hold the brake and give it a little gas, at around 1250 rpm theres a metal on metal noise that coincides with the engine vibration, is it possible that the torque converter is out of balance or improperly installed?

Did you inspect the transmission mount? It might be broken, common problem.
