There is a ghost in my valvetrain

Well guys I have let the Camaro sit for a year due to a super odd problem. I want it back again. Ok I installed 1.6 roller rockers on it and had no problems except with one rocker always coming loose. I checked the stud, i rolled the pushrod to make sure its straight, and i made sure the nut wasnt backing off. What else could possibly be bad besides a lifter? You tighten it up and a squeaking noise comes from in the motor when warmed up and will last until the rocker comes loose again. Someone said a wiped cam, but the rocker seems to open just as far as the rest. I can not think of any other possible thing considering there are no more parts. Can you?

What did you do to check the stud? Are these stock heads? Nothing indicates otherwise. Meaning stock press-in studs. One pulling out makes sense for the rocker always coming loose. Not sure that explains the squeaking noise, though.

Stock valve springs? May be getting coil bind, although 1.6 typically isn't enough to do that with a stock cam. What kind of rockers did you get, self-aligning?

Assuming an otherwise stock engine, it would have a roller lifter set-up. Those don't typically "wipe out", unless oil changes are severely neglected.

Re: There is a ghost in my valvetrain

I changed out rockers in a 1983 chevy van I had and one rocker came loose. I fixed it and it came loose a second time so I took a cold chisel and lightly damaged the top thread on the nut so it was binding when threaded on the stud. Never occured to me that the stud might be pulling out but it never happened again after that.

i measured the length of the studs sticking out from all of the other rockers and they were the same as the one always coming loose. Stock heads and studs.
