Loose Steering Wheel

I can turn my steering wheel about an inch either way before actually having it move my front tires. I'm used to it, but unless this is normal, I'd like to have it correct.

Is it some form of bushing that is shot? Does it have to do anything with the locking steering wheel column?

Thanks.

Re: Loose Steering Wheel

It may be your steering box and not the wheel or column.

Re: Loose Steering Wheel

Well, in order to lock the wheel, I have to turn the wheel to the "edge" of this "play" that I have (In other words, I have to turn the wheel about an inch either way to get it to lock).
