installing a manual oil pressure guage

i just put in a new crate engine, and after running it for about 30 min, the op started to fall then nothing, when i rev it goes up slightly but not enough.. does this sound like my sender may be bad? also i want to put in a manual guage to test, and i have a TPI and the sender is a pain to get to ... is there aanother location i could try?

You can use the port on the back of the block near the distributor, on the side above the oil filter, or on some blocks there's a port above the water pump.

Re: installing a manual oil pressure guage

I depend more on the manual psi gauge and it's easilier to access all oil related sensors my car.

what did you tap into to make that? did you just run a line from the rear of the block, where the sending unit was?

Re: installing a manual oil pressure guage

To answer your questions; It's just a piece of stock alum with one bore down the center and npt tapped for the oil line on one end and the PSIG on the other, then the 2 taps in from one side for the sensors.
I did this when the sender failed, at my age anything that keeps me from having to get under car, or to get at things you can't see is a blessing.
