Well im going to get alot of laughs out of this but it happend, and im trying to fix it. I was jacking up my camaro to do an oil change and the jack slipped off my crossmember and landing on my crank pully and bent it. I jacked it up with another jack and checked if the car was ok and it seemed fine. But the next day i drove the car, but after a while it started to build a tinkering noise. Over the next few days it came on and off, then i drove the car to work and the tinkering noise kept getting louder and louder as i pulled up to a stop light, I heard what sounded like a loud burst of air followed by a extremely loud screaming noise. So i immediatly turned the car off and started it again to get my self out of the road and went another 100ft and stopped. I got the car towed to my house and its been sitting in my garage for about a month. Today i wanted to diagnose it again to really see whats wrong and today it acted alittle differently. When i tried to start the car it cranked fine and started. With it running for about 10 seconds i could hear air bursting every few seconds and stopping. I know im asking alot but im not extremely knowledgable about engines and i just need to know if my motor is toast or if i can fix it.

Can you post a photo of the front of the engine, including the balancer/sheave?

how does a jack "slip" of the K member and catch the crank pulley? must be one of those jacks equiped with lightspeed right...

If it just bent the pulley you're ok. The "toast" part would apply if you messed up the crank.

Hey man, out of all the cars ive ever owned, i have to say this is the absolute WORST car to ever jack up. SOOOOO much body flex, and they are usually so low, you cant frikin get the jack under. The rear also sucks with that stabilizer bar. anyways...

If it did slip off the k-member and catch the pulley, it probably torqued the pulley, clockwise if looking at the car from the driver side view.

Even so, i dont think trauma to the pulley would cause bending of the crank so severely that it would result in such horendous noises. If it did, your piston would probably hit your valve, and you wouldnt be able to start the car so nice if that happene.d

Re: I bent my crank pully!
Well it was a new craftsman low profile jack and while it was jacking the wheel got jammed somehow so when the car got higher the jack stayed still and fell off.

I will take a picture tomorrow. Thanks for the input

I can see how it was a good idea to go through all that and start the engine to see whats wrong it.
