Frankenstein Motor

So I have an 88 IROC Z28 which came stock with a 305 TBI. Previous owner thrashed the motor, put in an L98 350 with teh stock TBI. Big Mistake, engine's starved for fuel.

Initially I had planned on going back to the caveman years and throwing a carb on it. I'm sick of electronics; but now a friend has given me his TPI setup. Based upon the TPI Shootout sticky, I've decided to keep it, thus changing out the fuel pump, wiring harness and ECM.

So, with a stock TPI, a stock 350, fully ported L98 heads, 10:1 CR; full 3" exhaust, 24 lb/hr injectors and an LT4 Hotcam, any guesses as to how much power I'll put out?

I'm shooting for 300-350 hp....pretty sure I need to put in a larger cam to achieve those numbers, as well as modify the TPI and reprogram the PROM.

Any opinions?

I would say thats a good estimate. Does it have headers or exhaust? That should be a darn good street engine.

Re: Frankenstein Motor

You'd have a way, WAY better chance of meeting your goal w/the TBI set up. If it's starving for fuel, get it some more fuel.

I don't see 350 hp through a stock TPI intake. Maybe if you port the chit out of it, you might get 300 horse at the flywheel...

Re: Frankenstein Motor

it has headers, a 3" y-pipe, full cat-back 3" exhaust; I was doing some more cam research and decided to go with a 224/230 .477/.480 grind from comp cams. With that cam and trickflow heads, trickflow documented 350 hp and 400 ft/lbs of torque with a 600 cfm Holley.

In the TPI section on here, they have a sticky of a Stock TPI making 410 Horsepower on top of a 383. Obviously a 383 and a 350 are two completely different beasts, but I would have thought I'd be making a bit more power.
