1989 Camaro RS Oil Problems
Hello,
I recently bought a '89 Camaro RS, with the 2.8L, off an insurance company. I was looking for a new project and the car still looked fairly nice and the only damage I could see was the small hit on the side. I have finally gotten around to running and driving the car, and lo and behold, like any other Camaro RS I have come across, some kid has beat the fire out of the car. I have already replaced a clutch that was worn down to the point of not being driveable, as well as a large number of other problems, and now I think the oil pump is going out on me. When I first got the car last summer I noticed the oil pressure was running fairly low, so dumped 30w50 Synthetic in the engine, hoping to increase the pressure. The oil pressure is getting low again, and I suspect the engine has had it. I know the bearings are probably going, but is there anything else other than the bearings or the pump that could be doing this? Finally, I really don't feel like rebuilding this engine, should it decide to go, so does anyone know what a decent 305 or another 2.8L should cost used?
Thanks in advance,
Robert

you can get a 305 with some miles for about 500 bucks or so.
