Installing a Thumpr cam from Comp Cams
I thinking about installing a Thumpr cam from Comp Cams in my 89 T/A - 305 HO and wondering if anyone can shed some light (what extra is needed or is it something that can be installed in a small block (305) without changing anything else??
Thanks
Thanks

Too much duration and not enough LSA to be computer friendly. Too much lift for stock heads.
Not a good idea.

Wouldn't you rather have more power than more sound? Mufflers can get you nicer sound, the cam should be picked based on power!
The compxe258hr is a solid performer in the 305 TPI engine. Tried and true, a good replacement for your peanut cam.

Agree, if you want a good sound, exhaust is a much better way to do it, hard to beat the sound of a flowmaster

You'd be better off getting a cam that's actually meant to work well or a cam that's actually meant to give you tons of power, instead of sacrificing both for sound.
If you want a showcar, buy that cam and do what you need to make it work (heads, valvetrain, tuning), if you want a cam that's actually designed to work well, following Sonix' advice isnt a bad idea.
