shuts off when decelerating

hey guys. i recently purchased an 84 z28, stock (as far as i can tell) 305,
T-5 tranny. when i am decelerating, the car will just die on me if i dont give it gas. it does not do it if i am sitting still, only when i brake. for example, i am approaching a stop light, i put it in neutral and apply the brake. the car will die, but once i am stopped, i can restart the car and it will idle fine at the light and accelerate fine, but the next time i apply the brake it dies. it also will not die if i am driving at a decent speed and just throw it in neutral and let it coast, as long as im making decent speed. it seems like as long as im moving pretty good, its ok, but as soon as i brake, or let it coast and reach a very low speed, it will die. im stumped. any suggestions?

Re: shuts off when decelerating

i would first check for vaccum leaks and check the brake booster to see if it has a leak it sounds like a brake booster to me
