TPI Kickdown cable broke-help

this has happened once before, they used some kind of clamp, and readjusted and it was fine. well it happened again...

I cant afford a new cable and need a car...

I was thinking 2 things. Suggest a clamp that will hold the end of the cable TIGHT... or a cable splice...

Is there such thing as a cable splice?.. I was thinking something like this

http://www2.tech.purdue.edu/at/Cours...alapsplice.jpg

in between the throttle arm and the cable bracket.. using a Bicycle brake cable with the ball end through the throttle arm, spliced with the original TV cable and readjust.... what are your ideas?

TIA, i really need help..

-thanks-

If it's just the plastic piece at the throttle end, which is usually the case, just buy this. Here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GM-FO...temZ8075009942

I'm not 100% sure about where you are talking but using the picture you posted this might be what you are looking for. It isn't worth trying to save a few bux now to chance on a repair not working and costing the price of replacing a trans later. A complete new cable can be had for $20-30 or around that range.

My bad, I didn't notice the pic of his cable. I totally agree. Get a new cable and be done with it.

Re: TPI Kickdown cable broke-help

bought cable, the KOI guys never said anything about whether i wanted TPI or not. they just asked if it was Fuel INjected...

Took it out, too small... Wonderful, so ill take it back on friday.. This one better not cost more, because i was told 21$ and it was the right part for my car *guaranteed*. So they better only charge 21$ for the TPI one also.

Re: TPI Kickdown cable broke-help

Heh, that's just the opposite of my dilemna the last time I tried to get a new one. I needed one for TBI and got the TPI cable, even though the computer, and the part# on the box said it was the "correct" one for TBI. I ended up going to the junkyard and pulling a good used one. Btw, the new one was Pioneer brand, and they look EXACTLY like the original, so they're good quality as long as you get the right one.
