Been trying to figure why only the defrost works. I know this is vacuum controlled to switch to the vents, however mine doesn't work

Now, there is a whitish looking vacuum going to one of the heater core hoses. It's connected to what I would say has to be some sort of water valve?

There is also a pink vacuum line that comes out from the far passenger side of the firewall, same as the white one does. The pink one is much shorter, and is not hooked up to anything.

Could this pink one be the reason why it won't switch over to vents? If so, where do I hook it up at. I've looked and looked and don't see any hookup for it at all.

The purple one is the "supply" line to the little vacuum switch.

It's supposed to go to a vacuum accumulator; could be either a thing up under your windshield cowl near the wiper motor with 2 vacuum nipples on it, or it might go to a T that comes off of the Orb Of Power that's in one of the fenders. I'm not sure what your year uses.

Well, I didnt see anything for it to hookup to.

However I did decide to replace a few old vacuum lines with new. Now it's idling way to high and doesn't want to shutoff

 

You probably bumped off your choke power wire.

 

nope it's still atached. I can't figure this out now

If I start it, then shut it off, it's fine.

If I start it, rev it any, or drive it then shut it off, it wants to stay running

I just solved this same shutting off problem a couple months ago by replacing the carb wiuth a junkyard one. Problem was fixed until I changed the lines

Edit-I did back the choke pulloff back just a bit earlier. But that was before I messed with the vacuums and it was driven, and was running fine
