power steering pump Q.....
does anyone know if there was a pressure output difference between our third gen saginaw pumps and the older tower reservoir pumps found on 70's chevy's? i have the older pump and want to know if I could use it in my 3rd gen....long WP; v-belt pulley. thanks

They run at the same types of pressures becuase steering box technology hasn't changes in a zillion years. But the fittings will be different on the older pump- you can't screw your stock lines into it.

Re: power steering pump Q.....
The older pumps run a lower pressure because the ratios back then were a lot lower (like 4:1 vs 2:1 now). It will still work, but the pump will complain at low speeds. I have an IROC box in my '68 with the original pump. You'll need different hoses or adapters to hook it up.
